Due to the spread of the Pneumonia Associated with the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Keio University has decided to postpone the start date of the Spring Semester to Thursday, April 30.
We, at the Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and Graduate School of Media and Governance, place the utmost priority on the health and lives of students, faculty, and staff members.
To be prepared for the scenario that the spread of COVID-19 may not come to an end by April 30 and onward, we will aim to reduce the number of people at Shonan Fujisawa Campus to a minimum. With the aim to reduce the risk of infections, we will take measures such as limiting the commuting of students and faculty on public transportation, limiting the number of instances that people gather, and putting social distancing into practice.
In light of the above, we have decided and are making preparations to implement, as much as possible, online instruction for graduate and undergraduate classes for Academic Year 2020 Spring Semester at the Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and Graduate School of Media and Governance.
We already employ the SFC-SFS, a communication support system via campus network for students, faculty, and staff members as one of the tools for conducting classes.
Furthermore, we have been operating since 2002, the Keio SFC Global Campus (SFC-GC), online lecture courses that make SFC's knowledge widely available to society.
Although classes may be conducted by a different method, SFC will use its experience and expertise as leaders in education and the Internet society to ensure the continuity of our teaching and learning environment while addressing the need to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
It is vital that each and every one of us act responsibly in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to keep yourself and those around you safe.
We ask for your understanding and cooperation.
